Routine child health checks are carried out at the surgeries by some of the doctors.

“I’ve been at the surgery for 18 months and I am one of the three doctors at the surgery seeing patients. I am able to provide general medical services, health promotion, minor surgery, maternity and contraceptive services.”
Our nurse practitioners can be seen, by appointment, for chest infections, chest pains, sore throats, ear pain, abdominal pain, rashes/shingles, bleeding in pregnancy, diarrhoea, constipation, minor injuries, children with temperatures, skin infections, urinary tract infections and emergency contraception. Job role/title: Advanced Emergency Nurse Practitioner and Independent Prescriber
“My role is similar to GP Support Nurse but I have key specialisms in minor illness and injury and dealing with dressings. I’ve been at the surgery since September 2016. I’m not a Practice Nurse – which people often mistake me for. I also do home visits which is another string to my bow. Phlebotomy.”

Our practice nurses can be seen, by appointment, for dressings, injections, stitch removal, minor injuries, ear syringing, well man and well woman clinics, family planning, cervical smears, chronic disease clinics, travel vaccinations, exercise and nutrition advice, and stress management.

Healthcare assistant appointments are available most days. The HCAs are fully trained to do blood pressure checks, well person checks, new patient checks, smoking cessation, simple dressings, spirometry and ECGs.

“I’ve worked at the surgery for 6 years, and started as a receptionist before moving into the new role in December last year. I’m now a permanent prescription clerk helping to ensure prescriptions are dealt with correctly and in a timely manner.”

We have attached staff who will help with general and specialist nursing at home. They may be contacted via our surgery receptionist.
An attached midwife helps to run our antenatal clinics at our local hospital and cares for mothers during pregnancy, delivery and after birth.
